Wallington is a National Trust property in Northumberland, with a house surrounded by a huge estate with wonderful woodland, farmland, moorland and parkland, a riverside walk beside the River Wansbeck and a beautiful walled garden, well worth a visit for flower photography. There is a wildlife hide in the grounds here where red squirrels regularly visit for the food supplied, as well as many bird species, including bullfinches, greater spotted woodpecker, nuthatch and jays. We’ve visited many times and always find something to photograph, whatever the season, whether the spring snowdrops in the woodland, the butterflies in the flower borders in summer, the red squirrels (especially in spring or autumn when they have their long ear tufts) or the extensive walled garden with its beautiful flowers – especially spring crocuses on the crocus lawn.
